"I have developed several homemade models of this boat over the last 35 years. Each was a one seater, made of wood, and with a flat bottom hull. Although the boat was indeed fun to drive, it did not steer very well and took the waves somewhat hard. I decided to create an all-new version of this boat made to accommodate 2 people and ride smoothly. I created a new hull design last year. My design had enough unique features to warrant submission for a US patent." Karl

Karl (Mort) is a Rhode Island native. He was driving boats at his family's fresh-water camp before he was riding a bike. When Karl was still in elementary school, his family built a year-round home on a fresh water lake, giving Karl great opportunity to try a variety of boats and motors.

In his 9-to-5 life, Karl is a manufacturing engineer. He has several other patents under his belt for unique assembly systems he has designed.

Boating and working on outboard motors are his passion and years of fine-tuning "the perfect ride" have led to his development of the Water Skimmer^SM. Karl has built several one-seater, personal water crafts and has perfected this "sweet ride", fiberglass hydroplane marine vessel.

In the summer of 2009, the Water Skimmer^SM attained it's US Patent. It is now in production with Martin Boats Mfg of Florida.
